Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and grooming with dignity and respect
- Provide compassionate bedside care and companionship to support emotional well-being
- Measure and record vital signs and report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
- Help with safe transfers and mobility assistance, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Support meal service and monitor intake, assisting residents as needed
- Document care accurately and communicate effectively with the care team for seamless resident care
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Prior experience caring for older adults preferred but new grads with strong bedside manner welcome
- Comfortable with hands-on resident care, lifting/transferring (training provided when needed)
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care and resident-centered approaches
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Basic knowledge of infection control, safety, and hygiene practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with residents and families
- Time management and multitasking to balance care needs during shift
- Familiarity with electronic or paper documentation systems is a plus
