Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered nursing care during overnight shifts
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and on schedule
- Perform thorough assessments and monitor patient status, escalating concerns promptly
- Collaborate with physicians, RNs/LPNs, and support staff to coordinate care plans
- Document clinical observations and interventions clearly in the electronic medical record
- Respond quickly and effectively to clinical emergencies and change-of-condition events
- Provide patient and family education with empathy and clarity to support recovery and discharge planning
Qualifications
- Active LPN or RN license in New Mexico (or a valid compact RN license where applicable)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications a plus
- Comfortable working independently overnight and prioritizing patient safety
- Strong clinical judgment, solid assessment skills, and a team-oriented attitude
- Previous acute-care or skilled nursing experience preferred but motivated clinicians are encouraged to apply
Education
- Completion of an accredited LPN program for Licensed Practical Nurses
- Completion of an accredited ADN/BSN or diploma program for Registered Nurses
- State licensure required for practice in New Mexico
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid medication administration and documentation practices
- Familiarity with common nursing procedures and overnight unit workflows
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and charting
- Excellent communication and handoff skills for safe transitions of care
- Ability to triage, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure
