Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy tailored to adults in a correctional mental health setting
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, nursing staff, custody, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
- Deliver crisis intervention and de-escalation when urgent behavioral health needs arise
- Maintain timely, thorough clinical documentation that meets regulatory and facility standards
- Participate in case conferences, treatment reviews, and discharge planning to support continuity of care
- Advocate for patient needs while upholding safety and institutional protocols
Qualifications
- Active LMFT license in California (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist)
- Experience providing mental health treatment in institutional, forensic, or community settings preferred
- Comfortable working within a correctional environment and following facility protocols
- Strong assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills
- Ability to pass required background checks and facility clearances
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care
Education
- Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a related mental health field (required)

- Trauma-informed approaches and recovery-oriented care
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Diagnosis and treatment planning for common adult mental health disorders
- Group therapy facilitation and family systems application
- Professional documentation, confidentiality, and compliance standards
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and security-conscious teams
