Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to geriatric patients during the night shift
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, toileting and feeding
- Monitor and record vital signs, report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support mobility and safe transfers using proper techniques to prevent falls and injuries
- Document care accurately and timely in the resident record
- Collaborate with rehab and nursing teams to support individualized care plans
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control practices
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, families and the care team
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- Eligible to work in Maryland and able to complete facility background checks and health screenings
- Comfortable and experienced caring for older adults; empathy and patience are a must
- Reliable, team-oriented, and able to work independently on night shifts
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail in documentation
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an accredited GNA / Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and supporting resident dignity
- Basic vital signs measurement and observation skills
- Knowledge of infection control and safe hygiene practices
- Familiarity with documentation standards and electronic/paper charting
- Clear communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
- Understanding of fall prevention and safe transfer techniques
