Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to geriatrics with dignity and respect
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
• Support care plans and follow direction from RNs and rehab staff to help recovery
• Monitor resident condition and communicate changes clearly and promptly
• Help with meal assistance and ensure dietary needs are met during assigned meal times
• Contribute to a safe, clean environment by following infection control and safety protocols
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families to promote well-being and comfort

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent required
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable working with geriatric populations and following care plans
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Must meet facility health and background check requirements

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an accredited GNA program required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skill in assisting with ADLs and safe patient transfers
• Familiarity with basic charting/documentation and care plan adherence
• Ability to observe and report clinical changes accurately
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
• Basic infection control practices and safe work habits
