Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to geriatrics with dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
- Support care plans and follow direction from RNs and rehab staff to help recovery
- Monitor resident condition and communicate changes clearly and promptly
- Help with meal assistance and ensure dietary needs are met during assigned meal times
- Contribute to a safe, clean environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families to promote well-being and comfort
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working with geriatric populations and following care plans
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Must meet facility health and background check requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an accredited GNA program required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skill in assisting with ADLs and safe patient transfers
- Familiarity with basic charting/documentation and care plan adherence
- Ability to observe and report clinical changes accurately
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
- Basic infection control practices and safe work habits
