Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (12-hour night shifts). Schedule set by leadership in 6-week blocks; includes 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule and possible holiday rotation. Night shift/float within Zone 4 (may float to Bob Wilson Memorial Ulysses and St. Catherine sites).

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor adult and geriatric patients on MS-Tele using telemetry monitoring and clinical judgment
- Safely titrate heparin and manage IV/drip therapies using pump systems like Alaris when required
- Float confidently across multiple units (MS-Tele, PCU/Stepdown, low-acuity ICU, specialty areas) to fill staffing needs
- Document timely and accurate patient care in EPIC and communicate changes to the care team
- Respond to cardiac and neurological changes, read telemetry strips, and activate escalation protocols as needed
- Collaborate with charge nurses, nursing aides, RTs and providers to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
- Support orientation and training by sharing best practices and mentoring team members when appropriate
- Maintain compliance with ACLS, BLS and NIHSS protocols and unit-specific policies
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to practice in Kansas or via compact privileges as required)
- Minimum 2 years of MS-Tele experience within the last 3 years
- Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) certifications and NIHSS certification
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac care; comfort titrating heparin drips
- Prefer prior neuro experience and familiarity with Alaris infusion pumps and EPIC charting
- Ability to float across a 60-mile zone and reliably obtain housing that supports that requirement
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work independently on night shift
Education
- Associate Degree or Nursing Diploma required (BSN not required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
- IV/drip titration and pump management (Alaris experience preferred)
- Patient assessment across adult and geriatric populations
- Epic inpatient documentation workflows and charting accuracy
- Float pool adaptability — quickly learning new units and protocols
- Time management, prioritization, and teamwork under varying acuity levels
- Familiarity with common diagnoses seen on MS-Tele (cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, post-op care)
