Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality telemetry and medical-surgical nursing care to adults across the unit
- Perform timely NIHSS stroke assessments and escalate concerns per protocol
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret telemetry data to intervene early when needed
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to create patient-centered care plans
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly in the medical record
- Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical excellence
- Support unit flow by assisting the team as a flexible float nurse across med-surg and telemetry areas
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license (state of practice)
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Comfortable working in a float pool environment with telemetry and med-surg patients
- Availability to work nights and every other weekend
- Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills
- Solid medical-surgical nursing assessment and intervention skills
- Effective critical thinking and prioritization in a fast-paced environment
- Clear, concise clinical documentation and communication skills
- Familiarity with infection control, fit testing, and occupational health requirements
- Ability to work collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team and adapt to different unit workflows
