Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor and delivery nursing care to birthing patients and their families
• Perform continuous fetal heart monitoring and interpret tracings to support safe delivery decisions
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and the neonatal team to deliver coordinated care during labor and delivery
• Respond quickly to maternal or fetal emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions
• Educate patients and families on labor progress, pain management options, and postpartum care
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and participate in shift handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Support quality improvement initiatives and follow unit protocols to enhance patient safety and outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license with verification (license/certification verification required)
• Current BLS certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• AWHONN or equivalent Fetal Heart Monitoring certification
• Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and required pre-employment testing (10-panel drug screen, TB testing/IGRA)
• Up-to-date immunizations and health requirements (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap)
• Successful fit test and physical/health statement per facility onboarding

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in labor support and intrapartum nursing best practices
• Proficient in electronic charting and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to interpret fetal heart tracings and assess maternal-fetal status
• Strong emergency response skills for obstetric and neonatal events
• Excellent communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary care teams
• Patient education and family-centered care skills, with sensitivity to diverse populations
