Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to laboring patients from admission through delivery
• Monitor fetal status using electronic fetal heart monitoring and respond promptly to changes
• Perform neonatal resuscitation (NRP) when indicated and support immediate newborn needs
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia, and neonatal teams to ensure safe outcomes
• Educate and support patients and families through labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the patient record
• Maintain competency through required checklists and skills verification, including Trinity skills checklist
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BLS certification required
• NRP certification required
• AWHONN and/or Fetal Heart Monitoring certification required or demonstrated competency
• Completion of Trinity skills checklist and license/certificate verification required
• Ability to pass Trinity 10 panel drug screen and required health screenings
• Required immunizations and health documentation (COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap)
• Previous labor and delivery experience preferred

Education

• Current California RN license
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical skills in labor and delivery and intrapartum care
• Proficient in fetal heart monitoring interpretation
• Skilled in neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn assessment
• Ability to recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies
• Excellent communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary care teams
• Patient and family education, support, and advocacy
• Accurate clinical documentation practices and familiarity with electronic health records
