Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and perioperative team in the Cardiovascular Operating Room by preparing CVOR-specific instruments and equipment
• Maintain and ensure a sterile field throughout cardiovascular procedures
• Anticipate surgical team needs and pass instruments efficiently to support excellent patient outcomes
• Perform instrument counts, documentation, and turnover of the CVOR between cases
• Participate in Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklists to maintain high standards
• Adhere to facility policies for infection control, fit testing, immunizations, and drug screening
• Communicate clearly with nurses, surgeons, and support staff to coordinate smooth case flow

Qualifications

• Active Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience required to be considered
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Ability to pass license/certificate verification and Trinity specialty competency testing
• Must complete required health screenings and immunizations: fit test, color vision, MMR, Hepatitis B, TB screening (2-step PPD or IGRA), Varicella, COVID-19 vaccine, influenza vaccine
• Successful completion of Trinity 10 panel drug screen and physical/health statement
• Professional, dependable, and able to function well under the pressures of the operating room

Education

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of cardiovascular surgical instrumentation and procedures
• Strong sterile technique and infection control practices
• Proficient with CVOR-specific workflows and instrumentation turnovers
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-acuity environments
• Familiarity with competency testing and skills checklist processes
• Ability to follow detailed pre-op and peri-op protocols and documentation
