Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Deliver evidence-based nursing interventions including medication administration and advanced life support
• Perform focused patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and document changes in condition
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary team members to create and execute care plans
• Respond to acute emergencies with poise, initiating protocols such as ACLS when required
• Maintain competence through required Trinity specialty testing and participate in skills checklists
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record and maintain regulatory compliance
• Provide compassionate education and discharge planning to patients and families

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice in Iowa or eligible for state licensure
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required
• NIHSS certification required
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist as part of onboarding
• Willingness to complete license/certificate verification and employer-required health screenings

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing knowledge including triage, stabilization, and acute care management
• Proficient in critical thinking, rapid assessment, and prioritization under pressure
• Comfortable with advanced cardiac life support algorithms and emergency protocols
• Skilled in patient communication, family education, and de-escalation techniques
• Experience with competency testing and skills checklist workflows
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Infection control practices and adherence to immunization and screening requirements
