Shift Type: Rotating shifts including weekends and holidays; every-other-week (EOW) holiday rotation. Specific daily start/end times vary by unit and will be provided by scheduling (day, evening, and night coverage required).

Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate respiratory care and life-saving interventions for patients across acuity levels
• Operate and manage ventilators, oxygen therapy, and airway devices with precision
• Perform neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and basic life support (BLS) as required during deliveries and emergencies
• Conduct patient assessments, develop care plans, and document responses to therapy clearly
• Collaborate with nursing, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize respiratory outcomes
• Complete required Trinity-specific competency testing and skills checklists to maintain high standards
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient care

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist license appropriate for Iowa practice (license verification required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NRP required or preferred for neonatal coverage
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist prior to or during orientation
• Ability to pass required health screenings: fit test, 10-panel drug screen, MMR, Hep B, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, Tdap, COVID-19 and influenza vaccine
• Comfort working rotating shifts including weekend and holiday coverage; strong teamwork and communication skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate or Bachelor degree preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong airway management and ventilator management skills
• Neonatal resuscitation knowledge (NRP) and experience where applicable
• Proficient in patient assessment, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medication delivery
• Competent documentation skills and familiarity with unit competency checklists
• Ability to work calmly during emergencies and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
