Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and treatments to adult and pediatric patients as indicated
• Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and other respiratory equipment
• Perform patient assessments, monitor respiratory status and interpret arterial blood gases
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Respond to codes and respiratory emergencies, applying NIHSS, ACLS and BLS protocols when needed
• Document treatments, changes in patient condition and discharge planning clearly and accurately
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and competency testing to maintain excellence
• Educate patients and families on respiratory disease management and home care techniques

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist license (state-specific) — license/certificate verification required
• Active BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS required as listed
• Completion of required facility onboarding checks: fit test, color vision, 10-panel drug screen
• Up-to-date immunizations and health screening: MMR, Hepatitis B, PPD/IGRA, Varicella, Tdap, COVID-19 and Influenza
• Comfortable working rotating shifts and covering every third weekend and one holiday during the contract
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate or Bachelor's) or equivalent credential

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid clinical knowledge of respiratory therapy modalities and ventilator management
• Proficiency with arterial blood gas interpretation and respiratory assessment
• Familiarity with infection control practices and bedside monitoring equipment
• Ability to perform NIHSS stroke assessments and respond effectively in emergencies
• Strong documentation skills and experience with electronic medical records
• Competency in specialty testing and facility-specific skill checklists
