Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating day shifts with occasional overnight call; 12-hour shift: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM, 9-hour shift: 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM, 10-hour shift: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM. Schedule includes weekends and holidays; overnight call approximately every 1-2 weeks; weekend call approximately every 4-5 weekends.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in the operating room to support positive surgical outcomes
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure surgical field safety throughout procedures
• Anticipate surgeon needs by preparing instruments, supplies, and equipment for each case
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative team members to coordinate patient care
• Perform accurate documentation of intraoperative care and post-op handoffs
• Participate in the call rotation, responding professionally to overnight and weekend calls
• Complete required competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical excellence
• Support patient and family education, ensuring clear communication before and after procedures

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Iowa (ability to provide License/Certificate Verification)
• Experience in Perioperative Nursing and Operating Room practice
• Current BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Successful completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist as required
• Comfort with call rotations and occasional overnight call
• Ability to pass required health screenings including fit test, drug screen, immunizations, and TB testing

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, ASN, or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of operating room workflows and perioperative processes
• Proficiency with sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and OR safety protocols
• Skilled in intraoperative patient monitoring and recognizing changes in condition
• Clear communication and teamwork skills to coordinate complex surgical cases
• Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Adaptability to rotating schedules and call responsibilities
