Shift Type: Rotating schedule: every third weekend with every other holiday rotation; ER shifts with cross-coverage to Med-Surg. Specific start and end times vary by facility and will be provided during scheduling.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in a busy ER setting
• Stabilize and manage acute and emergent medical-surgical conditions
• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care on both the ER and med-surg sides
• Coordinate patient care with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams
• Perform timely documentation and handoffs to maintain continuity of care
• Administer medications and treatments while monitoring patient responses
• Teach patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Maintain competency through required specialty skills checklists and testing

Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license required; license/certificate verification will be completed
• Current BLS certification required
• Current ACLS and PALS certifications required
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications required
• Completion of Trinity specialty competencies and skills checklist as required by facility
• Ability to pass required health screenings: fit test, 10-panel drug screen, MMR, Hep B, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, Tdap, COVID-19 and influenza vaccination verification
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced ER environment with Med-Surg cross-coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and triage skills for emergency presentations
• Experience with acute medical-surgical nursing principles and interventions
• Trauma and critical care prioritization and stabilization techniques
• IV therapy, medication administration, and documentation best practices
• Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining patient safety
• Familiarity with competency testing and facility-specific skill validation processes
• Basic electronic medical record (EMR) navigation and accurate charting
