Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring patients and newborns
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using established protocols and respond to changes quickly
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver safe care
• Perform and document assessments, interventions, and patient education with clarity and accuracy
• Participate in specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain high standards
• Support families through labor, delivery and immediate postpartum care with empathy and expertise

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Ohio or compact license applicable for practice in Ohio) — license verification required
• Current BLS certification
• Current NRP certification
• NIHSS certification as listed in required credentials
• Previous Labor & Delivery experience preferred
• Successful completion of facility-specific competency testing (Trinity specialty competency and skills checklist)
• Current health requirements: fit test, immunizations, drug screen and other facility health clearances

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of labor and delivery processes and maternal-newborn care
• Fetal monitoring interpretation and appropriate clinical response
• Proficiency in emergency response for obstetric and neonatal situations
• Effective patient and family education and communication skills
• Ability to follow specialty-specific competency checklists and documentation standards
• Teamwork and collaboration across multidisciplinary care teams
