Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor and delivery nursing care for birthing patients
• Continuously monitor maternal and fetal status and respond quickly to changes
• Assist the obstetric team during active labor, deliveries, and immediate postpartum care
• Perform newborn initial assessments and support neonatal transition, including NRP interventions as needed
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record (EPIC Stork)
• Educate patients and families on labor progress, birth plans, postpartum care, and newborn basics
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and multidisciplinary staff to ensure safe, coordinated care
• Participate in Trinity Specialty Competency Testing and skills checklist completion to maintain high standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license (License/Certificate Verification required)
• BLS certification required
• NRP certification required
• Experience in Labor & Delivery preferred (12-hour L&D experience highly valued)
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist as part of onboarding
• Ability to pass required health screenings: fit test, Trinity 10-panel drug screen, color vision, and required immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA)
• Successful completion of background and health clearances, and physical/health statement

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient fetal monitoring and labor support techniques
• Comfortable with EPIC Stork electronic documentation workflows
• Strong neonatal resuscitation skills and familiarity with NRP protocols
• Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and triage abilities
• Clear communication and patient education skills for families in labor
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary obstetric team
