Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, timely assessment and stabilization of emergency department patients
• Perform rapid triage, prioritize care, and initiate life-saving interventions when needed
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to protocols and provider orders
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement, safety initiatives, and continuing education
• Support patient and family education with clear communication during high-stress situations

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license required (Iowa or compact license as applicable)
• BLS required; ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS required or required upon hire as listed
• Successful completion of License/Certificate Verification and Trinity specialty competency testing
• Ability to pass fit test, 10-panel drug screen, and required immunizations/health screenings
• Prior emergency department or acute care nursing experience preferred
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with excellent communication skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• Active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency assessment and rapid decision-making skills
• Proficiency with triage, trauma protocols, and ACLS/PALS algorithms
• Skill in IV therapy, medication administration, and critical care nursing tasks
• Familiarity with electronic health records and clear clinical documentation
• Ability to de-escalate stressful situations and provide patient-centered education
• Comfort with unit-specific competency testing and skills validation
