Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to interventional radiology patients before, during, and after procedures
• Prepare patients and equipment for IR procedures, maintaining strict sterile technique
• Monitor and document patient status continuously during procedures and recovery using Epic
• Administer medications and assist with sedation per protocol while following ACLS/BLS standards
• Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient care
• Respond rapidly to emergencies and stroke/NIHSS protocols when indicated
• Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
• Maintain competency through Trinity specialty testing and skills checklists

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (Iowa) or compact RN license eligible
• BLS required; NIHSS required
• ACLS preferred
• Experience in Interventional Radiology or procedural nursing preferred
• Epic experience preferred for smooth documentation and handoffs
• Ability to work overnight call shifts and participate in weekend rotation (every 5th weekend)
• Successful completion of required health screenings, fit test, and background checks

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of interventional radiology procedures, sterile technique, and fluoroscopic environments
• Skill with hemodynamic monitoring, vascular access management, and contrast administration considerations
• Proficient clinical documentation in Epic or similar EHRs
• Comfortable with rapid assessment and emergency response (ACLS/BLS protocols)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills during high-acuity procedures
• Detail-oriented approach to medication administration, patient safety, and regulatory compliance
