Shift Type: Rotating schedule; primary mid-shift 10:00 AM - 10:30 PM, rotating coverage that includes weekends. Includes one night call per week and three 24-hour weekend call shifts every 6-week period. Shift type: rotating (day and night).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and stabilize patients emerging from anesthesia with focused, compassionate care
• Continuously monitor vital signs, neuro status (NIHSS where applicable), and post-anesthesia recovery parameters
• Administer medications, manage pain control, and titrate therapies per protocol
• Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth handoffs
• Respond quickly and effectively to any post-op emergencies or changes in patient condition
• Educate patients and families on recovery expectations, discharge instructions, and post-operative care
• Document accurately and timely using facility-required checklists and competency tools
• Participate in unit call rotations and provide coverage for weekend call shifts

Qualifications

• Current RN license (eligible to work in Ohio preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Demonstrated PACU or post-anesthesia care experience preferred
• Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing (per employer requirements)
• Ability to pass required health screenings: Fit Test, 2-step PPD or IGRA, COVID-19 and influenza vaccination, 10-panel drug screen, and other standard immunizations
• Strong critical thinking, airway management, and patient monitoring skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia care principles and patient monitoring
• Airway and hemodynamic management in the immediate post-op period
• Pain management strategies and medication administration
• Familiarity with ACLS algorithms and stroke scales (NIHSS)
• Clear communication and teamwork in fast-paced perioperative settings
• Accurate documentation and use of facility competency/checklist processes
