Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality critical care at the bedside for adult ICU patients
- Perform frequent patient assessments and intervene early to prevent deterioration
- Implement ACLS protocols and lead resuscitation efforts when needed
- Apply trauma and neuro screening using TNCC and NIHSS tools as appropriate
- Collaborate with physicians, RTs, pharmacists, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and adjust care plans
- Accurately document patient status, interventions, and outcomes in the patient record
- Participate in required competency testing and complete Trinity specialty checklists to maintain unit standards
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Iowa) required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- TNCC and NIHSS certifications required (per job checklist)
- Experience in ICU or critical care preferred
- Ability to successfully complete Trinity Specialty Competency Testing, Trinity Skills Checklist, and license/certificate verification
- Must be able to pass Fit Test, Trinity 10 Panel Drug Screen, and background/health screenings
- Up-to-date immunizations per facility requirements (Tdap, COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, PPD/IGRA) and a completed Physical/Health Statement
Education
- Completion of an accredited nursing program (ADN, ASN, or BSN) and active RN license
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong critical care assessment and monitoring skills
- Comfort with ACLS protocols and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Trauma and neuro assessment familiarity (TNCC, NIHSS)
- Clear, effective communication with patients, families, and team members
- Ability to follow structured competency testing and checklist-based skills verification
- Attention to infection control and workplace safety practices
