Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform blood bank testing and transfusion support accurately and efficiently to ensure patient safety
• Operate and maintain lab instrumentation and follow quality control procedures for reliable results
• Document and report results in Epic and WellSky in a timely and compliant manner
• Collaborate with clinical teams to coordinate blood products and resolve testing questions
• Participate in Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklists to maintain proficiency
• Ensure compliance with licensing, regulatory and institutional policies including specimen handling and documentation
• Assist with inventory management, labeling and storage of blood components to maintain supply integrity
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help troubleshoot workflow issues on the evening shift

Qualifications

• Blood Bank experience required — demonstrated hands-on competency in transfusion services
• Experience using Epic (electronic medical record) and WellSky lab/workflow systems
• Current BLS certification required
• Completion of Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and Trinity skills checklist as part of onboarding
• License/Certificate Verification required (per facility policy)
• Willingness and ability to work evening hours and every other weekend as scheduled
• Required pre-employment health requirements: fit test, drug screen, TB testing (2-step PPD or IGRA), immunizations (MMR, Hep B, Varicella, Tdap), and COVID-19 and influenza vaccine per facility policy

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of blood bank procedures, compatibility testing and transfusion medicine principles
• Proficiency with Epic and WellSky systems for result entry and workflow management
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control and regulatory compliance
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with nursing and clinical staff
• Specimen handling, labeling and chain-of-custody best practices
• Ability to learn facility-specific protocols and complete required competency assessments
