Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate patient care on medical-surgical and telemetry units
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and telemetry, responding to changes promptly
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while following facility protocols
• Perform focused assessments and document patient status clearly in the chart
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical competency
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications and follow-up care
• Maintain licensure and required certifications and adhere to all facility health screening requirements

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of Iowa or compact license as applicable)
• Current BLS required
• ACLS required
• TNCC required
• NIHSS certification required
• Experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing preferred
• Ability to complete Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists
• Successful completion of background check, 10-panel drug screen and required immunizations

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment skills
• Familiarity with medical-surgical nursing practices and procedures
• Effective documentation in electronic health records
• Clear communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients safely
