Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating shifts (float pool coverage across Med-Surg telemetry units; includes day and night coverage and weekends; occasional float out to MercyOne West Des Moines EOW/EOH). Exact start/end times are assigned by the facility per rotation.

Candidate Pay Rate: $62 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients on Med-Surg telemetry units with compassion and clinical precision
- Continuously monitor telemetry and respond quickly to changes in rhythm or patient condition
- Float between Med-Surg units and occasionally to MercyOne West Des Moines as assigned, adapting quickly to new environments
- Perform thorough assessments, administer medications, and implement individualized care plans
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate safe patient transfers and continuity of care
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and complete Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists
- Promote patient and family education to support recovery and safe discharge planning
- Uphold safety, infection control, and facility standards including fit testing and required immunizations
Qualifications
- Current RN license (ability to meet state licensure requirements for Iowa; License/Certificate Verification required)
- Experience in Med-Surg and telemetry nursing; float pool experience a strong plus
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- TNCC and NIHSS certifications (required)
- Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist prior to assignment
- Ability to pass Trinity 10-panel drug screen, fit test, and required immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap, 2-step PPD or IGRA)
- Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and excellent communication skills
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing). BSN preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry rhythm recognition and cardiac monitoring interpretation
- Med-Surg assessment skills and clinical decision-making
- IV medication administration and safe medication practices
- Electronic health record documentation and handoff communication
- Prioritization, time management, and the ability to function in a fast-paced float environment
- Teamwork, patient advocacy, and patient/family education techniques
