Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care across Med-Surg units and float locations
- Assess patients frequently and implement appropriate care plans that improve outcomes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate safe transitions and continuity of care
- Administer medications, IV therapies and treatments accurately and according to policy
- Monitor and document patient status, changes and interventions in the electronic medical record
- Perform specialty-specific competency tasks as required by Trinity testing and skills checklists
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications and discharge planning
- Support unit staffing needs by being adaptable, reliable and ready to float across units
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Iowa and ability to meet license verification requirements
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- TNCC and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience in Med-Surg nursing and prior float pool experience highly desirable
- Successful completion of Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist
- Up-to-date immunizations and clear health screenings (e.g., TB test, drug screen, fit test)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong Med-Surg clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency with IV medication administration and common inpatient procedures
- Comfortable charting in electronic medical record systems
- Ability to prioritize, multitask and adapt quickly across different units
- Excellent communication and teamwork with nurses, physicians and support staff
- Familiarity with Trinity-specific competencies and facility policies
