Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care on Med-Surg and Telemetry units
• Monitor cardiac telemetry continuously and intervene promptly when changes occur
• Float between assigned units and to MercyOne West Des Moines as needed (approximately 9.5 miles from downtown)
• Perform thorough patient assessments, medication administration, and IV therapy safely
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
• Complete Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain unit standards
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record and support patient/family education
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (must be verifiable)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications required
• Clinical experience in Med-Surg and Telemetry; float pool experience a strong plus
• Ability and willingness to float to multiple med-surg units and to MercyOne West Des Moines
• Successful completion of Trinity specialty competency testing, skills checklist, fit test and required health screenings (drug screen, immunizations, TB testing, etc.)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Solid med-surgical nursing knowledge and proficiency in acute care procedures
• Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making abilities
• Clear, timely documentation and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Effective communication and teamwork across disciplines
• Infection control, medication safety, and patient education best practices
