Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents including bathing, dressing, and toileting assistance
- Assist with mobility and transfers to promote resident safety and independence
- Support mealtimes and feeding assistance while monitoring dietary needs and preferences
- Perform routine observations and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff
- Maintain accurate documentation of care activities and resident status
- Follow infection control protocols and contribute to a clean, safe environment
- Engage residents in meaningful activities and social interaction to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- State GNA/CNA certification or equivalent as applicable in Maryland
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility immunization requirements
- Excellent communication skills and a heart for working with older adults
- Previous long-term care or geriatric experience preferred
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic clinical skills: hygiene care, feeding, ambulation and transfers
- Familiarity with documentation and charting related to resident care
- Understanding of infection control and safety practices
- Strong observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
- Teamwork and effective communication with nurses, therapists and families
