Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and respect
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Foster a warm, engaging environment by encouraging participation in social and therapeutic activities
• Document care accurately and clearly to maintain continuity and quality of care
• Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans and improve outcomes
• Support safe transfer and ambulation techniques to minimize falls and promote independence

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or equivalent (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric settings is a strong plus
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong communication skills with residents and families
• Ability to follow care plans, document accurately, and work effectively in a team

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling techniques
• Ability to observe, recognize, and report changes in resident status
• Good documentation habits and basic charting skills
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage residents and collaborate with the care team
