Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults and promote dignity in daily living
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Safely assist with transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and lift equipment
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and observe for changes in condition
• Document care accurately and timely in resident records and communicate updates to nursing staff
• Support individualized care plans and participate in team care conferences
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families, offering emotional support and companionship

Qualifications

• GNA or CNA certification required (state-approved program)
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Prior experience in long-term care, geriatric, or skilled nursing settings is preferred
• Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and required health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
• Physical ability to perform resident care tasks, including lifting and sustained standing

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA/CNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic resident care
• Familiarity with infection control practices and PPE use
• Basic vital signs measurement and reporting
• Care documentation and charting best practices
• Teamwork and effective communication with interdisciplinary staff
• Resident rights, dignity, and privacy principles
