Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults and promote dignity in daily living
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Safely assist with transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and lift equipment
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and observe for changes in condition
- Document care accurately and timely in resident records and communicate updates to nursing staff
- Support individualized care plans and participate in team care conferences
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families, offering emotional support and companionship
Qualifications
- GNA or CNA certification required (state-approved program)
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Prior experience in long-term care, geriatric, or skilled nursing settings is preferred
- Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
- Physical ability to perform resident care tasks, including lifting and sustained standing
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved GNA/CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic resident care
- Familiarity with infection control practices and PPE use
- Basic vital signs measurement and reporting
- Care documentation and charting best practices
- Teamwork and effective communication with interdisciplinary staff
- Resident rights, dignity, and privacy principles
