Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and support to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor and document resident conditions, reporting changes promptly to nursing staff
- Support safe transfers and assistive mobility to reduce fall risk
- Contribute to a clean, safe, and dignified living environment for residents
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure individualized, person-centered care
- Engage with residents to promote social interaction and emotional well-being
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to communicate clearly with residents, families, and the care team
- Ability to perform physical tasks required for resident care and safe transfers
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and resident dignity
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Strong interpersonal and customer-service oriented communication
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Infection control awareness and adherence to facility protocols
