Roles & Responsibilities
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans under the direction of an OT to improve patient independence
- Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), adaptive techniques, and therapeutic activities
- Document patient progress clearly and timely in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient-centered care
- Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive equipment, and safety strategies
- Adapt therapeutic activities to meet each patient’s cognitive, sensory, and physical needs
- Assist in maintaining a safe, organized therapy environment and ensure proper equipment use
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) credential required
- Active or eligible for New Hampshire state licensure or certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or ability to obtain upon hire
- Experience in rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or outpatient therapy preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
- Flexibility to work the assigned days, including weekends
Education
- Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or OTA diploma from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with therapeutic activities, ADL training, and adaptive equipment
- Familiarity with documentation standards and electronic medical records
- Knowledge of safety protocols and infection control practices
- Ability to assess patient needs and implement modifications for success
- Strong interpersonal skills for patient and family education
- Time management and organizational skills to manage a full caseload
