Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (Day shift); Rotating first-call on-call coverage: Tuesday 4:30 PM - Wednesday 8:00 AM and Friday 4:30 PM - Monday 8:00 AM (includes on-site inpatient rounding Saturday & Sunday) — rotation occurs approximately every 5–6 weeks (rotating day/night/on-call coverage).

Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage adult and geriatric oncology patients across outpatient and inpatient settings with compassion and clinical excellence
- Coordinate and manage bone marrow transplant cases and collaborate with the transplant team
- Oversee chemotherapy management and work with nursing oncology staff on administration and safety
- Coordinate blood bank needs and manage transfusion-related decisions
- Order, review and act on laboratory tests and imaging to guide timely patient care
- Prescribe appropriate therapies and manage medication plans in accordance with scope of practice
- Provide first-call phone triage and hospital phone coverage, ensuring continuity of care during rotations
- Perform on-site inpatient rounding on weekends as required during call rotations
Qualifications
- Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or equivalent and graduate of an accredited PA program
- Active or eligible for state medical licensure in South Carolina (ability to obtain state license prior to start)
- Clinical experience in medical oncology and comfort managing both benign hematology and malignant oncology
- Experience with bone marrow transplant patient management preferred
- Proficiency with EPIC or similar EMR for documentation and ordering
- Ability to provide inpatient rounding and take first-call responsibilities (phone triage and hospital calls)
- Credentialing-ready (facility estimates ~60 days) and able to provide required credentials in a timely manner
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program (Master’s or appropriate clinical degree) and PA-C certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong oncology knowledge: chemotherapy management, benign and malignant hematology
- Experience with inpatient and outpatient oncology workflows
- Clinical decision-making for ordering tests and imaging and coordinating with blood bank
- Comfort with phone triage, call coverage, and rapid clinical escalation when needed
- Familiarity with EPIC for charting, orders and communication
- Effective interdisciplinary communication and team collaboration skills
