Shift Type: Weekday shifts vary based on surgical schedule: either 8-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM) or 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM). Includes night call and weekend call coverage as needed; call schedule and ratio are TBD. Rotating/variable schedule to meet hospital needs.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality anesthetic care for adult general surgical and complex specialty cases including cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery
• Perform regional anesthesia techniques including IV regional blocks, plexus blocks, spinal anesthesia, and local infiltration
• Insert and manage invasive hemodynamic monitoring devices such as TEE, PA catheters, arterial lines, and central lines
• Manage airway and ventilation for a broad range of surgical patients, optimizing intraoperative respiratory support
• Supervise CRNAs effectively and collaborate with surgical, ICU, and perioperative teams to ensure seamless patient care
• Document care thoroughly and efficiently using Cerner EMR and participate in perioperative planning and handoffs
• Contribute to patient safety, quality improvement, and case planning for complex procedures

Qualifications

• Current New Jersey medical license required
• Physician credentials appropriate for hospital privileges (MD or DO or equivalent)
• Clinical experience with general, cardiac, thoracic, and complex vascular anesthesia and regional techniques
• Proficiency with invasive monitoring including TEE, PA catheter, arterial and central line insertion
• Experience supervising CRNAs in a hospital setting
• Comfortable documenting and working in Cerner EMR
• Willingness to work variable shifts and participate in night and weekend call as needed

Education

• MD or DO (or equivalent medical degree)
• Completion of residency in Anesthesiology

Knowledge & Skills

• Regional anesthesia and neuraxial techniques
• Open heart and thoracic anesthesia principles
• Complex vascular anesthesia management
• Airway and ventilation management for adult surgical patients
• Invasive hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation (TEE, PA catheter, arterial line, central line)
• Clinical supervision and team leadership with CRNAs
• Proficient use of Cerner electronic medical record
