Shift Type: Monday-Friday with some weekends required, rotating in-house call shifts: 24-hour in-house call (8:00 AM - 8:00 AM) OR 12-hour in-house call (8:00 AM - 8:00 PM); shift type: rotating day/overnight call
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $248 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide timely triage and deliver OB patients at Genesis Medical Center, contributing to an average 65-80 deliveries per month
- Cover OB/GYN emergency department calls and provide consultative care as needed
- Round on inpatients and manage postpartum and L&D patients with clear, compassionate communication
- Perform a full range of obstetric procedures including routine and complicated deliveries, C-sections, VBACs and repair of 3rd/4th degree lacerations
- Perform Level I/screening OB ultrasounds and procedures such as amniocentesis when indicated
- Provide operative gynecology care including laparoscopic and open procedures as required
- Collaborate with CNMs, APPs and residents to ensure continuity of care and quality outcomes
- Document care accurately in the Cerner EMR and participate in on-call coverage with professional responsiveness
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree with completion of an Obstetrics & Gynecology residency
- Board certified or board eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology preferred
- Active Illinois or Iowa medical license or ability to obtain state licensure in a timely manner
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; OB-specific certifications a plus
- Experience with labor and delivery, cesarean delivery and high-risk pregnancy management
- Comfortable performing OB ultrasound (Level I) and procedures such as amniocentesis
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR or willingness to quickly adapt to Cerner workflows
- Ability to supervise residents and collaborate with mid-level providers and CNMs
Education
- MD or DO
- Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology
- Board Certified or Board Eligible preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong fetal heart rate interpretation skills (NST/CST/FSE)
- Skilled in both routine and complicated obstetric deliveries, including C-section decision-making
- Proficient in OB ultrasound screening and basic procedural ultrasound
- Comfortable with operative gynecology basics and minor laparoscopic procedures
- Excellent triage, emergency coverage and inpatient rounding capabilities
- Team-oriented communication, teaching aptitude, and adaptability to fast-paced hospital settings
- Familiarity with hospital systems and workflows in L&D, postpartum, OR and ER settings
