Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care for a manageable census of ~5–10 patients per night
- Perform thorough admissions from the ED and direct admissions from referring physicians
- Document clinical encounters accurately and efficiently in Paragon EMR
- Monitor and manage acute medical conditions, including patients in the open ICU with intensivist backup
- Collaborate with nursing, specialists, case managers, and ancillary teams to coordinate patient care
- Arrange and coordinate safe discharge plans, ensuring follow-up and home care needs are met
- Lead effective handoffs and interdisciplinary rounds to maintain continuity between day and night teams
- Participate in quality improvement, performance metrics, and safety programs aligned with organizational standards
- Mentor and support residents, students, and advanced practice providers when applicable
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, medical staff bylaws, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
- New graduates who will be Board Eligible within 1 year are welcome to apply
- One year of clinical experience preferred but not required
- Comfort and experience with nocturnist/inpatient medicine work
- Experience using Paragon EMR and strong clinical documentation skills
- Ability to manage patients in an open ICU with access to 24/7 intensivist consultation
- Not accepting Locums candidates, Visa candidates, or 1099 candidates
Education
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine (physician). New graduates who are Board Eligible within 1 year are accepted

- Strong inpatient internal medicine knowledge and judgment
- Admissions assessment and acute care management skills
- Clinical documentation best practices and Paragon EMR proficiency
- Open ICU management with collaboration with intensivists
- Discharge planning and care coordination skills
- Comfort with interdisciplinary communication and team collaboration
- Involvement in quality improvement, performance metrics, and safety initiatives
- Mentorship and supervisory skills for trainees and advanced practice providers
