Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care, assisting with activities of daily living to preserve dignity and independence
- Perform vital sign checks, basic clinical tasks and timely documentation to support excellent patient outcomes
- Assist nursing staff with safe patient transfers and mobility, prioritizing safety at every step
- Observe and report changes in patient condition to the nursing team to ensure prompt intervention
- Support a respectful, team-oriented environment and contribute to a positive patient experience
- Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to maintain a safe care environment
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (Certified Nursing Assistant) required
- T-CNA or travel CNA experience strongly preferred
- Active/state-specific CNA license or ability to obtain Maine credentials for the assignment
- Recent hands-on patient care experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting
- Background check, TB screening and required immunizations per facility policy
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; CNA training certificate required
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs, bathing, grooming and toileting
- Able to take and record vital signs accurately and consistently
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, families and clinical teams
- Good documentation practices and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively with nursing staff
- Understanding of infection control and resident safety principles
