Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, expert nursing care to spinal neuro trauma and surgical patients, including paraplegic and quadriplegic populations
- Perform thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans to optimize recovery and function
- Administer medications, manage complex wound care, and support post-op and trauma recovery protocols
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (PT/OT, physicians, social work) to coordinate safe, effective patient care
- Document care accurately in EPIC and maintain complete, badge-appropriate demographic information in your profile
- Support crisis and trauma interventions for high-acuity patients, including gunshot and other trauma cases
- Educate patients and families on care needs, mobility, and long-term management of spinal cord injuries
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure with Nursys verification (please ensure Nursys license verification is loaded on profile)
- Minimum 2 years experience in spinal neuro trauma, surgical, or trauma nursing specialty
- EPIC experience required — please note EPIC on your profile
- Current certification cards as required by facility (upload certification card to profile)
- Complete work history/resume with no gaps greater than 60 days
- References and skills checklist available upon request; demographic info and a badge-appropriate photo loaded into profile
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep knowledge of spinal cord injury care, paraplegic/quadriplegic management, and neuro-trauma considerations
- Competence in trauma and surgical nursing principles and high-acuity patient management
- Proficiency with EPIC for documentation and order management
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and multidisciplinary communication skills
- Experience with post-op care, wound management, and emergency trauma interventions
