Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, compassionate nursing care for spinal neuro trauma and surgical patients, including quads and paraplegics
- Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans for complex spinal cord injuries
- Manage post-operative and trauma-related nursing interventions with attention to safety and recovery
- Document all patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic — EPIC experience is required
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (surgeons, PT/OT, respiratory, case management) to optimize outcomes
- Educate patients and families on injury management, recovery expectations, and discharge planning
- Maintain required certifications and keep Nursys license verification current
Qualifications
- Active RN license with Nursys verification (must be loadable to profile)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in spinal neuro trauma or related surgical trauma specialty
- Demonstrated proficiency with Epic (EPIC required)
- Complete professional profile: up-to-date resume/work history (no gaps > 60 days), skills checklist, references, certification card, and badge-appropriate photo
- Comfort working with high-acuity patients including gunshot wounds, spinal cord injuries, quads and paraplegics
- Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and teamwork mindset
Education
- Active RN licensure (Nursys verifiable)
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Epic EMR documentation and order management
- Spinal cord injury care and neurotrauma nursing principles
- Surgical nursing and post-op management
- Trauma assessment and stabilization
- Wound care and pressure injury prevention
- Patient and family education on mobility, skin integrity and adaptive needs
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
