Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality bedside care for MedSurg Neuro patients, including stroke and post-neurosurgery cases
• Monitor patients with tele-awareness and escalate concerns to telemetry/charge staff as needed
• Safely manage PCA pumps and assist with set-rate drips following unit policy
• Perform accurate, timely documentation in EPIC to keep the care team informed
• Support admissions, discharges and multiple daily patient turnovers with strong organizational skills
• Use mechanical lifts and safe patient-handling techniques to protect patients and teammates
• Practice hourly rounding and responsiveness to prioritize patient comfort and safety
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to deliver compassionate, culturally competent care

Qualifications

• Current LPN/LVN license eligible for submission in Nebraska
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg nursing experience
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Valid driver’s license at time of submittal
• Clean state license and background (no license or background hits)
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and every-other-weekend coverage
• Travel experience preferred but strong local candidates will be considered

Education

• LPN/LVN diploma or vocational nursing certificate and active state license
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong MedSurg and telemetry awareness
• EPIC charting proficiency
• PCA pump management and familiarity with common titratable drips
• Ability to use mechanical lifts and safe patient-handling equipment
• Cultural competency for caring for patients who speak Spanish, Karen or Burmese
• Excellent communication, teamwork and time-management skills
• Focus on patient advocacy, compassion and professional bedside manner
• Ability to adapt to a busy unit with frequent admissions and discharges
