Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients on Med-Surg Telemetry, responding promptly to changes in condition
- Interpret telemetry strips and escalate significant cardiac changes per protocol
- Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and update patient care plans
- Perform and document thorough nursing assessments and interventions in the EHR
- Provide patient and family education to promote recovery and prevent readmissions
- Maintain competency through Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and skills checklists
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in Iowa (License/Certificate Verification required)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- TNCC and NIHSS certifications as listed
- Completion of required health screenings: fit test, Trinity 10 panel drug screen, immunizations (Tdap, COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella) and TB testing (2-step PPD or IGRA)
- Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and any facility-specific competency testing
- Strong telemetry/med-surg clinical experience and comfort with cardiac monitoring
Education
- Active RN license in Iowa
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Med-Surg clinical judgment and safe medication administration
- Proficiency with electronic health records and accurate documentation
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education skills
- Ability to prioritize, triage, and manage multiple patients in a busy unit
