Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality med-surg and telemetry nursing care to assigned patients with compassion and clinical precision
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and telemetry closely, respond quickly to changes, and escalate appropriately
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and document care accurately in the electronic health record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and follow patient-centered plans of care
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge instructions so they feel confident and informed
• Participate in unit processes such as shift handoffs, safety huddles, and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (eligible to practice in Iowa; compact license accepted if applicable)
• BLS and ACLS required; TNCC and NIHSS required as listed
• Previous med-surg telemetry experience preferred
• Completion of facility-required checks: Trinity Specialty Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Successful completion of pre-employment screening: Trinity 10 Panel Drug Screen, Fit Test, and background/license verification
• Up-to-date immunizations and health requirements: Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, Varicella, and 2-step PPD or IGRA
• Physical/Health Statement demonstrating ability to perform essential job functions

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition skills
• Solid med-surg nursing knowledge including post-op care and common adult medical conditions
• Comfortable with IV medication administration and titration per protocol
• Excellent clinical judgment, prioritization, and time management under busy unit conditions
• Clear, compassionate patient and family communication
• Proficiency with electronic health records and accurate documentation
