Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform continuous cardiac and telemetry monitoring, promptly identifying and escalating arrhythmias and changes in patient status
• Deliver high-quality medical-surgical nursing care to adults on the telemetry unit, prioritizing safety and evidence-based practice
• Conduct focused patient assessments, implement nursing interventions, and evaluate outcomes to drive meaningful recovery
• Perform stroke assessments using NIHSS and coordinate timely interventions with the interdisciplinary team
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and ancillary staff to develop and execute individualized patient care plans
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and participate in shift handoffs to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing; must be able to obtain Iowa licensure if not already licensed
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC and NIHSS certification required or must be able to obtain prior to start
• Demonstrated experience in telemetry and medical-surgical nursing
• Ability to pass Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing, skills checklist, fit test, and 10-panel drug screen
• Up-to-date immunizations per employer policy (Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella) and TB testing (2-step PPD or IGRA)
• Clear physical/health statement and ability to meet health requirements including COVID-19 vaccination per facility policy

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Strong medical-surgical clinical assessment and critical thinking
• Stroke assessment (NIHSS) proficiency and acute stroke workflow familiarity
• Patient-focused communication and family education skills
• Competence with unit-based protocols for rapid response and escalation
• Infection control practices, fit testing, and occupational health compliance
