Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ functional abilities and craft individualized occupational therapy plans
- Deliver hands-on treatment and adaptive strategies to improve activities of daily living
- Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs and physicians to create cohesive care plans
- Document progress clearly and promptly in the patient record
- Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, assistive devices and safety
- Monitor outcomes and modify interventions to maximize patient independence
- Participate in team meetings and contribute clinical insights to improve care
Qualifications
- Active California Occupational Therapy license or eligibility to obtain one prior to start
- NBCOT certification preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Previous experience in outpatient or rehabilitation settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
- Valid professional credentials and clean background checks as required by facility
Education
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (MOT) or Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) required or equivalent degree required for licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL training, adaptive equipment recommendations and functional mobility
- Knowledge of neurorehabilitation and orthopedic therapy techniques
- Familiarity with documentation standards and EMR systems
- Proficient with patient assessment tools and outcome measurement
- Ability to provide family-centered education and home exercise programs
- Solid clinical reasoning and time management in a fast-paced rehabilitative environment
