Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function using evidence-based evaluation tools
- Develop individualized treatment plans that prioritize meaningful, measurable outcomes
- Deliver skilled therapy interventions for communication and dysphagia across the continuum of care
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and families to support patient-centered goals
- Document progress thoroughly and timely in the facility EHR, ensuring regulatory compliance
- Participate in care planning and discharge coordination to promote smooth transitions
- Provide education and training to patients, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team
Qualifications
- Master’s or Clinical Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or SLP license eligible
- Washington state licensure or ability to obtain Washington licensure
- Experience working with adult rehab/medical populations and dysphagia management preferred
- Strong documentation skills and comfort with electronic health records
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and patient-family education skills
Education
- Master’s degree or Clinical Doctorate (AuD/SLP-D/MA/MS/MCIS) in Speech-Language Pathology
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in assessment and treatment of aphasia, apraxia, cognitive-communication disorders, and dysphagia
- Skilled in therapeutic techniques, compensatory strategies, and AAC recommendations
- Ability to create measurable goals and demonstrate progress
- Familiarity with infection control, safety practices, and rehab team dynamics
- Strong clinical reasoning, time management, and patient/caregiver coaching abilities
