Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in delivering patient-centered care and therapeutic interventions
- Implement treatment plans including therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional mobility practice
- Monitor and document patient progress accurately and communicate changes to the therapy team
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques
- Prepare treatment areas, maintain equipment, and ensure a safe environment for patients
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to support discharge planning and optimal outcomes
Qualifications
- Current, active Physical Therapist Assistant license or eligibility to obtain in Kansas
- Completion of an accredited PTA program
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification, or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Strong communication skills and a patient-focused attitude
- Travel or contract experience preferred but not required
Education
- Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on knowledge of therapeutic exercise and mobility techniques
- Proficient documentation skills and familiarity with care plans
- Ability to safely assist with transfers and use assistive devices
- Good clinical judgment and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
- Comfortable working with a diverse patient population, including geriatrics and post-acute care
