Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care to individuals in a mental health setting
- Assist clinicians with intake, vitals, and routine clinical tasks to keep patient flow moving
- Administer medications and treatments under supervision, following facility protocols
- Document accurately in electronic medical records and maintain clear communication with the care team
- Support telepresenter duties when needed — facilitate virtual encounters and technology setups
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to promote patient safety and therapeutic goals
- Observe and report changes in patient condition promptly to nursing or provider staff
Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant certification OR Certified Nursing Assistant credential required — MAs will be prioritized
- Valid BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Experience or strong interest in mental health care; prior correctional or behavioral health experience a plus
- Comfortable with telepresenter duties and basic computer/EMR navigation — computer skills required
- Ability to pass facility background checks and meet vaccination/tb-screening requirements per facility policy
- Professional communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or CNA training program; current MA or CNA credential required
Knowledge & Skills
- Mental health support fundamentals and de-escalation awareness
- Clinical skills: taking vitals, basic wound care, medication administration support
- Electronic medical record documentation and basic computer proficiency
- Strong interpersonal skills for patient-centered care and team collaboration
- Familiarity with telehealth/telepresenter technology and troubleshooting basics
- Situational awareness and adherence to facility safety protocols
