Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate assistance with daily living activities including bathing, dressing and mobility
- Support residents’ comfort and dignity through respectful, person-centered care
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to nursing staff
- Assist with meal service and ensure dietary needs and preferences are followed
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations
- Help create a calm, safe environment and actively participate in fall prevention
- Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans
- Engage residents in social and recreational activities to promote quality of life
Qualifications
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or equivalent state certification
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willing to obtain)
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
- Prior experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatrics preferred
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner
- Ability to lift and assist residents per facility policy
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification or state-approved nursing assistant training
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic resident care and ADL assistance
- Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures
- Comfortable with documentation and care reporting
- Teamwork and clear communication with nurses and interdisciplinary staff
- Observation skills to notice subtle changes in resident condition
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
