Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily care to older adults, assisting with activities of daily living
• Support mobility and safe transfers while maintaining respect and dignity
• Take and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
• Assist with meal service and document intake, honoring dietary needs and preferences
• Keep accurate and timely resident records and communicate updates during handoffs
• Create a comforting environment through meaningful engagement and companionship
• Follow infection control protocols and facility safety procedures at all times

Qualifications

• GNA certification required (Maryland GNA preferred)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
• Comfort working with geriatric populations and demonstrating patience and empathy
• Strong teamwork and communication skills for effective collaboration with clinical staff

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic geriatric care principles and elder-focused communication
• Experience with ADLs, transfers, and safe resident handling
• Accurate vital signs measurement and documentation
• Basic infection control and medication pass awareness
• Good observational skills and timely reporting of resident changes
• Professional bedside manner and the ability to build rapport quickly
