Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance that preserves resident dignity
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to licensed nursing staff promptly
- Accurately document care and resident interactions in the facility charting system
- Support social and emotional needs through meaningful engagement and companionship
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to maintain a healthy environment
Qualifications
- Current GNA or CNA certification in Maryland or ability to obtain prior to assignment
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred
- Experience in geriatric or long-term care settings is a plus
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and meet facility immunization requirements
- Reliable, patient-centered approach and strong teamwork skills
Education
- High school diploma or GED and completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Resident-focused bedside care and safe mobility techniques
- Clear communication and collaboration with nursing teams
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Knowledge of infection prevention and safety practices
- Compassion, patience, and cultural sensitivity when caring for older adults
