Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with respect and dignity
• Provide compassionate feeding assistance and ensure meal needs and textures are followed
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and daily observations accurately in resident charts
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Observe and report any changes in residents’ conditions to the nursing team promptly
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control and safety protocols
• Engage residents in social interactions and recreational activities to promote emotional well-being
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification in the state of Maryland (required)
• Active state registry or license as applicable for Geriatric Nursing Assistants
• Up-to-date immunizations, TB test, and clear background check as required by facility
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass a skills check and complete facility orientation on arrival
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, resident-centered approach

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an approved GNA training program required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of ADLs, safe transfer techniques, and infection prevention practices
• Comfortable documenting care accurately and following care plans
• Ability to recognize basic changes in condition and escalate appropriately
• Good teamwork skills and a positive attitude when working with residents and staff
• Time management to support multiple residents during shift periods
